The Project
Due to the November 2021 rains, there was a roadway bank failure on 16th Ave in Surrey. The bend in the creek created an issue with high water impacting the slope. The road was at risk and sediment was moving into the salmon bearing river.
The City placed riprap along the bottom. Denbow placed EcoBlanket to grout the top of the riprap and to provide Erosion and Sediment Control.
As a solution along the bank above, we also placed Filtersoxx along the road edge to protect the slope from water running off the roads surace.
Everything was Terraseeded with a seed specifications provided by the City of Surrey
The scope of work
2 sections of Eco-Blanket install. 1 large main section @ 97ft x 7ft wide strip along side Concrete No Posts & 1 small section @ the west end of the install area along lower bank leg.
The length of 8″ Soxx is along the top of the slope & against the Concrete No Post. We stacked this length of Soxx every approx 6+/- ft for this particular install. 21″ wooden 2″x2″ used for staking the Sox in
Filtrexx® FilterSoxx™ is a geotextile mesh tube filled with filtering material to control erosion and retain sediment in disturbed areas.
Compost filter socks provide a three dimensional filter that retains sediment and other pollutants (e.g., suspended solids, nutrients, and motor oil) while allowing the cleaned water to flow through. All Denbow’s Filtrexx® products fulfill municipal Erosion & Sediment Control bylaws.
EcoBlanket is a compost erosion control blanket that imitates the natural layer of humus that protects our undisturbed soils.
